Sanderling Antics
Limited Edition Print from Original Watercolor
I like shorebirds! With patience you can sneak up on them and they will go about their lives as if you were not there, especially juvenile birds just down from the Arctic where they were hatched only two months ago. Sanderlings are the characteristic small shorebird of sandy beaches, running in and out with the waves. After feeding, they rest, preen, and bathe. Conditions were just right for shorebirds along the beach in Platte Bay several years ago, and some days there were 200 sanderlings there. This painting is a composite of several birds I watched there.
The original has been sold, but this image is available as a Limited Edition Print. See below for more information.
